About Hangman

Hangman is one of the oldest word-guessing games in the world, traditionally played with pen and paper. One player thinks of a secret word or phrase; the other guesses one letter at a time. Every wrong guess adds another body part to the hanged figure — head, body, arms, legs. Guess the word before the drawing is complete and you survive. GameNight.pro brings Hangman to the browser with a solo mode against the computer and an online multiplayer mode for 2 players, with word lists in six languages. No download or account required.

How to Play on GameNight.pro

Choose vs Computer to play solo or Online Multiplayer to challenge a friend. In solo mode, select a language and difficulty (Easy = 8 lives, Medium = 7, Hard = 6), then press Start Game. A hidden word from a random category appears as blank letter boxes. Click a letter on the alphabet grid — or press it on your keyboard — to guess. Correct letters fill in their positions; wrong letters are crossed out and the hangman grows. Reveal all letters before the figure is complete to win.

In multiplayer, the host sets the number of rounds (3, 5, or 7) and the lives allowed (6–8). Players take turns: a correct guess keeps your turn going; a wrong guess passes play to the next player. The player who reveals the final letter scores the point for that round. If both players use up their wrong guesses, nobody scores. The player with the most points after all rounds wins.

Strategy Tips

Five habits that consistently improve your Hangman performance:

• Open with high-frequency letters: E, T, A, O, I, N, S, and R appear in the vast majority of English words. Starting here maximises the chance of an early reveal and costs you nothing if you happen to miss.
• Use word length and pattern: A five-letter word with a double letter in the middle is a very different problem from a nine-letter word with an apostrophe. Read the blank pattern before you guess — it often narrows the field dramatically.
• Think in word families: If you've revealed _A_E, think of MAKE, LAKE, GATE, RACE before guessing randomly. Common patterns like -TION, -ING, -ED, and -ER are worth targeting once you have a partial picture.
• Avoid rare letters until forced: Q, X, Z, J, and K account for a tiny fraction of words. Save them for when letter distribution already points in that direction — burning a life on Z in round one is almost always a mistake.
• In multiplayer, play conservatively on your opponent's turn: You score by completing the word, not by guessing correctly in isolation. Let your opponent deplete their wrong guesses and then clean up the remaining letters when the word is nearly solved.
